I'm glad you are intrerested in hearing more!
I
grew up in a family that loved music and would stay up late listening to my folks sing a cappella. At a young age I fell in
love with the black and whites of a piano keyboard while my brothers took their piano lessons. I was never afforded the opportunity
myself but learned to play the piano by watching them at their lessons. I would sit down at the piano after everyone would
leave and go through the books they were working on. I was self taught (and disciplined for it many times). "Stop banging
the piano so hard!" or "Turn that guitar down!" and "Do you really think screaming is singing?" were
things I would ignore often. I can still remember being scolded (gently) for playing the piano late at night when an idea
would hit me and I would need to hear it on the piano right away.
All that was in the early years and when I became
a teenager I was given the free space of the attic to call my own. I've been allowed to be creative ever since. I've
always liked writing poetry and stories and got into writing lyrics to songs when a friend, who had a band, asked me for some.
Later, I would enjoy the pleasure of joining my own bands, all of them destined for stardom, only to have one band mate or
another afraid of heights. The last band I was in broke my musical heart so much I have been playing solo ever since although
I will jam with anyone if asked!
I loved helping out
at recording studios because, as the song was being produced, the lights on all the equipment looked awesome, that and also
being exposed to the recording process gives a deeper meaning into what goes into a recording besides pressing record. With
that aside, may I suggest to anyone looking for a cool visual (and audio) experience to go into a recording studio and hang
out for a while.
I now make time for other endeavors (I
also own a cleaning and maintenance company called A Brite Touch Cleaning) but music is, and always will be, my driving force
through life…um, I mean my family is my driving force and music is just how I interpret my life, yeah, that’s
what I mean.
